Installing Google Tag Manager

  1. Sign up on the Google website.
  2. Sign into your Google Tag Manager.
  3. Add an account in the Tag Manager. Enter an account name and a container name, and select “Web” in the Target platform section.
  4. Confirm your consent with the Google Tag Manager terms and conditions.
  5. You will shown 2 code snippets, which you need to embed in your website.
  6. Copy the 1st snippet and add it right after the <head> tag in the Webasyst design editor. This tag may be located in the index.html or head.html file. The exact location of the tag depends on your specific design theme.
  7. Copy the 2nd snippet and add it right after the <head> tag in the Webasyst design editor. This tag may be located in the index.html file. The exact location of the tag depends on your specific design theme.
  8. Paste the code snippets between special tags {literal} — instead of the ellipsis shown in the example.
  9. {literal}...{/literal}
    These tags are required to prevent curly brackets used in the Tag Manager code snippets from being specially processed by Smarty templates used in Webasyst.

Done! The Tag Manager is now installed on your site. Go back to your Google account and continue the setup. Read more about setting up and using Google Tag Manager.
