How to view all images / videos / text documents / audio records in Files app

Guideline on filter setup to view files selected by type

To quickly view all files of a certain type, use filters. Filters are handy if you store a lot of files of different types in your Files app; e.g., text documents, images, audio records, videos.

By default, Files app offers you some standard filters: "Documents" and "Images". For your convenience, you may set up more filters as explained below.

Adding custom files-viewing filter

Click "New filter" and specify the desired filtering parameters:

  • Name: Type any name to quickly find this filter among others.
  • Visibility: Select who should be able to see the link to this filter in Files sidebar: either only yourself, or also other users.
  • Icon: Pick an icon from the provided list, it will help you faster find this filter in the sidebar.
  • File name: Optionally type any word which must be part of all file names returned by this filter; e.g., report or photo.
  • Tags: Type and select available tags, one by one, for the filter to return only files associated with the entered tags.
  • Storage: Select storages whose files must be returned by this filter.
  • File type: Select files types which must be returned by this filter. If the desired file type is not available in the list, add custom file name extension (or multiple extensions, separated by comma).
