What to check when order notifications are not sent

  1. Check whether the sending of notifications is actually set up in the Store → Settings → Notifications section. The Enabled option must be selected in each notification’s settings.
  2. Check the SPAM folder in the recipient’s mail box. Order notifications might have landed there.
  3. Check the sender email address specified in the Primary email field in the Store → Settings section. Use a sender email address based on your domain name such as @mydomain.com.

Avoid using email addresses registered with public email services such as Gmail or Outlook. Emails sent from such addresses may not be delivered because of failing DMARC policy checks.
  4. If your website is hosted on the Webasyst Cloud and you have a mail box hosted on a third-party email service like Gmail or Outlook then check that you have no email addresses set up in the Cloud → Email addresses section.
  5. Ensure that the sender and recipient email addresses are not the same. Sending of email messages to the sender’s address may not be allowed by your configuration.
  6. Check that you have no Smarty syntax errors in notification templates. To ensure that you have no syntax errors, delete previously set up notifications and add them again, with correct default templates.
  7. Your web-hosting company may not allow the sending of email notifications if the sender’s address is based on a domain that does not match your website’s domain name. Either save an allowed sender address in the Store app’s Primary email setting or contact your web-hosting company to have this requirement disabled for your account.
  8. If SMS notifications are not sent then check the SMS provider integration settings in the Settings → SMS providers section. You also must have positive balance in your SMS provider’s account.
  9. Get more diagnostic information from the Webasyst error logs; e.g., by using the free Logs app. You may also need to read the mail server logs provided by your web-hosting company.
